2008 Western Adventure
Day 3 - June 22, 2008
Another
late start again this morning, but I did have a good nights sleep.
Again, I had some minor problems setting the route that I wanted to
take, but after a couple of random detours I got back on track. The
country side was beautiful in Northern Alabama, Mississippi, and
into Tennessee. I especially enjoyed going through Tuskegee, AL with
its deep history. The Tuskegee University and the renowned
Tuskegee Airmen.
My route took me through some
of Alabama's beautiful mountains, and near several big lakes.
Watching the boaters having fun on the lakes made me wish that I was
on a jet ski and not a motorcycle. Did I mention that it was
very hot. The thermometer on my bike was registering around a
hundred most of the day, but the thermometer is mounted on a black
panel, which does attract heat.
I had lost all sense of time
and before I knew it the sun was starting to go down. I
decided that I needed to eat and then start looking for a place to
stay. I queried my GPS and found there were several hotels in
nearby Jackson, TN. I also checked for camping facilities, but
it was getting late by the time I finished my gourmet meal at Taco
Bell, and made a few phone calls to family, and felt it would be too
late to set up my tent. I found a cheap Motel 6 with WiFi that
looked mighty inviting, so that's where I stayed.
