2008 Western Adventure
Day 19 - July 8, 2008
I woke up still tasting the Mexican food I ate at
Ben's the evening before. The food was good, but it stayed
with me a long time. It is a beautiful day in Green River and
I'm anxious to hit the road so I can get to Ogden, Utah as early as
possible. I'm looking forward to seeing my old friend Jay
Hudson and his wife, Barbara.
The first few hours were great, with fantastic
scenery. Wonderful twisty roads and meandering creeks,
but that ended when I approached Provo. I encountered a wall
of smog. At first I thought there were some big fires in the
area, but I didn't smell smoke. It reminded me of the last
time I was in Los Angeles. The smog continued to Salt Lake
City, but was a little lighter. Once I cleared SLC the smog
seemed to just disappear, and by the time I reach Ogden it was clear
again.
My trusty GPS (almost always trusty) brought me
right to the doorstep of the Hudson's. They were waiting for me,
and welcomed me into their home with open arms. They have a
beautiful home in a very nice area, and I now understand why they
love it in Ogden.
Jay advised me that our good friend, Charlie
Hanson was going into the hospital the next day for a hip
replacement. We decided to call him and wish him good luck. He
was a little apprehensive about the surgery.
We'll follow up to see how he comes through the surgery.
The rest of the evening was spent catching up on
everything. We then watched Jay Leno's monologue and went to
bed. Oh, did that bed feel good.
